Zesty Orange Marmalade

Homemade orange marmalade bursting with sweet and tangy flavors, perfect for toast or desserts.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium oranges
  • 2 medium lemons
  • 21/2 cups water
  • 1/8 tsp baking soda
  • 1 box SURE-JELL Fruit Pectin
  • 1/2 tsp butter or margarine
  • 51/2 cups sugar

Instructions

  1. Wash the fruit.
  2. Prepare the oranges by slicing them in half and then into thin wedges.
  3. Prep the lemons similarly, slicing thinly and removing seeds.
  4. Cook the fruit with baking soda and water in a large pot over medium heat for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Add the SURE-JELL to the pot and bring to a full rolling boil.
  6. Incorporate the sugar and return to a boil, removing from heat after a minute.
  7. Check the consistency by pouring a spoonful onto a plate.
  8. Jar the marmalade in sterilized jars, leaving headspace.
  9. Process the jars in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
  10. Cool the jars completely before storing.

Notes

For variations, add spices, herbs, or try different citrus fruits.
