Creamy Pumpkin Cream Cheese Swirl Brownies

  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup (95g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup (35g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 oz (226g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup (120g) pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
  2. Combine the melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth. Beat in the two eggs and vanilla extract.
  3. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt in another bowl, then gradually incorporate into the wet mix.
  4. Pour the brownie batter into your prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  5. Beat together the cream cheese, pumpkin puree, sugar, eggs, and spices until smooth.
  6. Drop dollops of the pumpkin mixture on top of the brownie batter and swirl together with a knife.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes.
  8. Cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before lifting out and cooling completely before cutting.

Notes

Serve with powdered sugar or a dollop of whipped cream. Pairs wonderfully with spiced chai or hot cocoa.
