Grandma’s Chicken & Rice Casserole

A comforting and creamy casserole filled with chicken and rice, perfect for family dinners and cozy gatherings.

  • 2 1/2 cups shredded or cubed chicken
  • 2 cups instant white rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of celery soup
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup sliced butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the rice by bringing 2 cups of water to a boil. Add the rice, cover, and let it sit for about 5 minutes.
  3. Mix the cream of chicken, cream of celery, and cream of mushroom soups in a large bowl.
  4. Add the shredded chicken, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the soup mixture and stir.
  5. Combine the cooked rice into the chicken mixture, blending well.
  6. Prepare a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and spread the mixture evenly in it.
  7. Add butter slices on top of the casserole.
  8. Bake covered with foil for about 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for another 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool for 10 minutes before serving.
