Delight in this warm and aromatic Italian herb bread, freshly baked with fragrant herbs and a golden crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Italian herbs (oregano, basil, thyme, etc.)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Mix the dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, salt, and Italian herbs.
  2. Add warm water and olive oil: Create a well in the center of your flour mixture, then slowly pour in the warm water and olive oil.
  3. Knead the dough: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead it for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. First rise: Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  5. Shape the dough: Punch it down gently, and shape it into a loaf before placing it on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Second rise: Cover it loosely and let it rise for another 30-40 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Add a personal touch: Brush the top with olive oil and sprinkle with herbs or cheese.
  9. Bake for about 25-30 minutes, until golden brown and hollow when tapped.
  10. Cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
