Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup Butter, melted
  • 2 Eggs
  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • ½ cup Cherries, pitted and halved (for the batter)
  • 2 tsp Vanilla
  • 4 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1.5 cups Milk
  • Pinch of Salt
  • ½ cup Butter, melted (for crumb topping)
  • ½ cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Flour
  • 1.5 tbsp Cinnamon
  • 1.5 cups Fresh Cherries, pitted and halved (for the topping)
  • 1 cup Flour, AP (for the topping)
  • ¾ cup Granulated Sugar (for the topping)
  • ½ tsp Baking Powder (for the topping)
  • 6 tbsp Butter, melted (again for the topping!)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with some butter or cooking spray.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Beat the wet ingredients: In another bowl, beat the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients and stir until just mixed. Fold in the cherries gently.
  5. Transfer the batter into the prepared pan and smooth it out. Bake for 25-30 minutes.
  6. Prepare the crumb topping by mixing the melted butter, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, sugar, and baking powder.
  7. Sprinkle the crumb topping over the baked cake. Add more cherries on top if desired, and bake for another 15-20 minutes.
  8. Cool the cake in the pan for 10-15 minutes before cutting into squares.
