Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Stir and let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together bread flour and salt.
  3. Combine and knead: Pour the yeast mixture and melted butter into the dry ingredients. Stir until a shaggy dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes.
  4. First rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Shape the dough: Punch down, turn out onto a floured surface, and shape into a loaf or rolls.
  6. Second rise: Place shaped dough in a greased pan, cover, and let rise for another 30-60 minutes.
  7. Preheat and bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool and enjoy: Transfer to a wire rack to cool before slicing.
