Homemade Rosemary Parmesan Bread

A warm, aromatic bread filled with the savory flavor of rosemary and Parmesan cheese, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let this mixture sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Mix it up: In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour, salt, and chopped rosemary. Mix together until evenly distributed.
  3. Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the frothy yeast mixture, along with the olive oil and half of the grated Parmesan cheese.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 8-10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  5. Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly greased bowl. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough gently and shape it into a loaf or rolls.
  7. Cover the shaped loaf or rolls and let them rise again for about 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Sprinkle the remaining grated Parmesan cheese on top of the loaf.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden and hollow sounding when tapped.
  10. Cool on a wire rack for at least 10-15 minutes before slicing.
