Vanilla Mousse

Indulge in a silky vanilla mousse that is light, airy, and a perfect treat for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 3 egg whites
  • 2 tablespoons gelatin
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • Silky chocolate topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bloom the gelatin: In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over the 3 tablespoons of water. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until gel-like.
  2. Heat the milk mixture: In a medium saucepan, combine the whole milk and sugar over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in the bloomed gelatin and vanilla extract.
  3. Beat the egg whites: In a clean mixing bowl, whisk the egg whites using an electric mixer until soft peaks form.
  4. Whip the cream: In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  5. Combine the mixtures: Gently fold the warm milk-gelatin mixture into the whipped cream.
  6. Incorporate the egg whites: Fold the beaten egg whites into the creamy mixture gently.
  7. Chill the mousse: Spoon the mousse into serving glasses and refrigerate for at least 4-6 hours, or overnight.
  8. Create the chocolate topping: Melt dark chocolate and drizzle it over the set mousse before serving.
